Alette:

is a good-natured, explosives-loving, old Cajun lady with mild dementia and 'clairvoyancy', which is really more of a uncanny knack for making unintentional and unusual suggestions that actually work in some weird way and just generalized extraordinary luck. She basically has no physical strength, always making Beau do any handy work or lifting, and talks in such a manner that when she isn't being sarcastic, she sounds like she may be double-speaking or making backhanded commentary. Alette is far more charitable than Beau, often trying to help others and leaving him in frustration for the extra work, and extremely prideful: if she 'loses' in some manner, her antagonist will be getting a lot of subtle, primarily verbal, abuse until amends are made.
Beau:
is a bankrupt southern gentleman, former boxer and a gruff charmer,
who experiments with herbalism and alchemy to alter a persons
physical capabilities and to find a means of regaining his youth. He
loves to have company, but only really speaks to people he likes, which
he decides immediately upon meeting them. If he decides he doesn't
like you, you will constantly be walking on thin ice. Beau has become
so accustomed to Alette's cooking that he can hardly bring himself to
eat anything else. Hand to hand combat is one of his favorite means
of confrontation - it makes him feel young and virile.
The two:

are very close, long time friends that never speak kindly of each other. Alette is sort of the 'leader' of the two, almost solely because she is so demanding and doesn't take well to being defied. Beau is very protective of Alette and blindly loyal to her. Alette is entirely reliant on Beau and sort of just automatically follows/drags him around, subconsciously refusing to be away from him.
